Alan Browne scored the winner, the PNE skipper netting from the penalty spot after Ched Evans had been fouled by Sky Blues goalkeeper Ben Wilson.
Victory ensured Championship football for North End next season, Frankie McAvoy's record in charge being three wins, two draws and one defeat.
These are the North End player ratings, Ched Evans and Browne the stand-out players.
