Phil Brown was Preston North End manager from January 2011 to December of that year.
Appointed as Darren Ferguson’s successor, Brown was unable to keep PNE in the Championship and then relieved of his duties the following campaign - after a run of one win in 11 games. North End had started the season with 22 points from a possible 27, but form fell off a cliff.
It wasn’t to be for Brown at North End, and the same can unfortunately be said for most of the players he recruited during his tenure. The Lilywhites utilised the loan market heavily and brought in several free transfers.
Here, we rate all 19 of the now Kidderminster Harriers boss’ PNE recruits.

13. Thorsten Stuckmann
A big character and popular player for PNE. Stuckmann was great value and he won Player of the Year in 2011/12. The big German saved his fair share of penalties and made 77 appearances for North End in total. 8/10 | Clive Brunskill

14. Clarke Carlisle
Scored three goals in his 27 appearances that season, on loan from Burnley. Carlisle made an impact early on, starting quite a lot of games, before eventually drifting in and out of the side. 5/10 | LEP

15. Sam Hoskins
Hoskins has gone on to have a solid EFL career, but he didn't manage a single appearance for PNE when signed - as an 18-year-old - on a one month loan from Southampton. 1/10 | Getty Images

16. Jonathan Forte
Forte arrived at the same time as Hoskins, from the same club. He stayed for one month and played four games for PNE, without scoring. 3/10 | Getty Images
