16 Championship free agents available to Preston North End, Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland

There are some eye-catching options available on free transfers this summer as Ryan Lowe looks to strengthen his North End squad.

It has already been a hectic summer for Ryan Lowe after the Preston North End manager refreshes his squad ahead of the new Championship season.

Two new goalkeepers have arrived in the shape of Newcastle United’s Freddie Woodman and Peterborough stopper David Cornell and free transfer duo Robbie Brady and Ben Woodburn have boosted Lowe’s ranks over the last few weeks.

There have been departures with the likes of Paul Huntington, Scott Sinclair and Izzy Brown all finding their names on Lowe’s list of released players at the end of last season.

There will be a need for the North End boss to strengthen defensively as he looks to push towards a play-off place when the new season gets underway next month.

The likes of Dunfermline defender Josh Edwards and Borussia Dortmund Under-23s’ star Antonios Papadopoulos are just two names that have been linked with a move to Deepdale.

But there are a whole host of attractive options available on free transfers this summer and the Evening Post takes a look at 16 that are currently on the free agent list.
