PNE spotlight: Simon Makienok

North End's Great Dane has six goals to his name so far this season after arriving on loan from Palermo, including a hat-trick in the EFL Cup win at Bournemouth.

Joined Palermo for around £2million in August 2014 after scoring 35 goals in 74 games for Danish club Brondby.

The move did not work out however and he was loaned to then Championship side Charlton ahead of the 2015-2016 season, having made just four substitute appearances in Serie A.

Still only 26, he has six international caps but has not played for his country since October 2013, when he appeared as a late substitute in a 2-2 draw with Italy, replacing former Arsenal and now Nottingham Forest striker Nicklas Bendtner.

Wife Ibi is a TV host in his native Denmark, the pair married in Copenhagen in September 2014.
