The Linnets broke the deadlock in spectacular fashion on 41 minutes when Nwabueze stepped up from 25 yards and fired a superb free-kick over the wall and in off the underside of the crossbar.

King’s Lynn doubled their advantage 21 minutes after the restart. A flick-on sent Hall-Johnson through into the penalty area, where he kept his composure before poking his effort into the far bottom corner.

Clear-cut opportunities were limited for Andy Preece’s side, although the Magpies came close to finding a way back into the contest on two occasions.

Callum Rowe was first to threaten when his effort from distance rattled the crossbar, with Chorley then going even closer when Harvey Smith’s header from Adam Blakeman’s corner was cleared off the line by King’s Lynn captain Michael Clunan.

The hosts held on to claim the points and leave Chorley empty-handed from their trip to Norfolk.

Attention now turns to the FA Cup, with the Magpies entering the competition at the second qualifying round stage next Saturday, where they'll face Warrington Rylands away.
