The 46-year-old has parted company with the club after disappointing to the current NPL Premier Division campaign.

The highlight of Milligan’s time in charge was when he guided the club to an outstanding third-place finish in the Premier Division, the club’s highest league position since the 1990s.

They went on to reach the play-off final, narrowly missing out on promotion losing 1-0 to Warrington Town.

Former midfielder Milligan played for Everton in the Premier League and had a spell at Blackpool, before going on to become a legend at Fleetwood Town.

He then joined Brig where he scored in the 2-1 win over Grantham town in the 2017 League Cup final . He was then part of the squad which won promotion the season after.

He said: “I leave the club with my head held high; from being at the cusp of the National League North after a play-off final appearance, a cup final appearance, seeing the club through Covid and proudly seeing players move up the pyramid, it’s been a great run.

“Sadly I feel I have taken the club as far as it can go. With the budget I have been given, we’ve always been able to punch above our weight but with the disappointing results this season, i feel like my time has run it course.”
