The 22-year-old will be top of the bill when he faces Joe Hughes at the Premier Suite at Bolton Wanderers’ Macron Stadium.

Unbeaten Catterall is one of the UK’s hottest young prospects, having won all of his 14 bouts – which include nine knockouts – in his first three years as a professional.

Impressive stoppage victories against Noe Nunez and Gabriel Calfin, either side of October’s points win against previously unbeaten Jarkko Putkonen – all to retain his WBO Intercontinental belt –have seen the Chorley ace rise to No.5 in the world rankings.

The young star – who once sparred with legendary welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather and current middleweight ace Canelo Alvarez – is keen to beat the current English champion, which could pave the way for a shot at British title holder Tyrone Nurse.

Hughes has tasted defeat only once as a pro, coming early on in his career.

And Hughes retained his title last time out against Anthony Upton with a unanimous points decision win.

He said: “Joe Hughes has got a good record he has only been beaten once.

“He is a well respected fighter but I have no doubt I will come through.

“It is the first time I will headline a show, I have earned this privilege because of the fights before it.”
