We’ve been through our archives and found pictures of a number hostelries that have disappeared from the Preston landscape over the years – some have been demolished, many turned into flats – but they will always live on in our memories. Sadly, there are certainly nowhere near the amount of pubs as there was years back.

Found in an odd location under the railway bridge on Fylde Road, for most of its existence this pub was known as the Princess Alexandra, but at the same time it was also commonly known as Th'Ole In Th'Wall. In 1995 it became the Tap & Spile. It was then briefly re-named as Rooneys, and finally finished its days back as the 'Ole In Th'Wall. It stopped serving pints in the year 2000 and was converted into student accommodation | ati
