'We never imagined this' - sudden closure of Preston country pub known for home cooked food

Staff have emotionally announced the permanent closure of a Preston countryside pub.

A countryside pub known for its home cooked food has suddenly closed.

Staff at the Roebuck Inn, in Garstang Road, Bilsborrow, took to social media to make an emotional announcement, thanking customers and looking forward to “bigger and better things”.

They said: “ We are incredibly sad to announce that on Saturday the Roebuck in Bilsborrow closed its doors for the last time. We never imagined having to say goodbye to Bilsborrow and for this chapter to end.

“The Roebuck has become a place to make memories, friends and build a community that will be massively missed. We would like to thank each and every customer over the years for their support and sharing special moments with us. Every guests loyalty and kindness means the world to us.

“We have had the absolute privilege to work alongside each other and be a smashing team and I wish each of them an amazing future. This is an incredibly difficult goodbye, However we are taking this as an opportunity to go onto bigger and better things for each of us.”

No details of the reason for closure have been given.

Followers have left dozens of messages for staff, thanking them for their service and lamenting the loss of the ‘best Sunday lunch around’.

Chef and Brewer (owned by Greene King) have been contacted for more information.
