UPDATE: Woman cut from car after Ringway crash

The woman became trapped in her vehicle after three cars collided on the Ringway.

Fire crews were called out to assist with the rescue on the busy road near Aldi on Tuesday, April 24 at around 12.30pm.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "We attended a report of a woman trapped in a vehicle.

"Paramedics were unsure of the extent of the lady's injuries and requested that she be removed from the car using a long board.

"We removed the doors and the roof and extracted the patient through the roof.

"She was conscious and talking throughout.

Ambulance Services say they transported a woman who was suspected of suffering serious injuries to hospital for treatment.

A spokesman said: "We took two casualties to hospital for treatment. A woman was trapped in her car and we requested help from the fire service.

"Another patient was taken in a separate hospital for treatment."

Drivers suffered severe delays as road closures were put in place around the area.

The current condition of the patients is not known.
