Woman 'seriously injured' in Preston crash

A woman is believed to have suffered serious injuries in a crash in Preston, say Ambulance Services.

Another person has also been taken to Royal Preston Hospital following the crash which happened on London Road near to the Aldi.

Police, fire and ambulance services were called to the scene at around 12.30pm on Tuesday, say police.

One person is believed to have been trapped in a vehicle which is believed to have involved at least two cars - a silver Vauxhall and a blue Honda.

Police say the accident is causing significant traffic issues are warning drivers to avoid the area which has several road closures in place.

One eyewitness said: "It looked like a serious accident. There was a police van blocking off the road to traffic by Aldi on Queen's Retail Park plus several other police vans and an ambulance at the scene, and a silver car in the middle of the road.

"Traffic was being brought off at the junction with the prison and there were long delays on Ring Way and Deepdale Road."
