'Unsafe building' in Preston city centre closes road

A temporary road closure has been enforced in Preston city centre due to an unsafe building.

Preston City Council has temporarily closed off the end of St Wilfrid Street and part of Fox Street until the building can be made safe.

As a temporary measure, access has been opened up from Fox Street on to Fishergate, however the Lancashire County Council bus enforcement remains in place.

The access to Fishergate is for emergency vehicles and deliveries to Fox Street businesses.

Surgeon’s Court can be used as an alternative exit route.

The Council has asked drivers to avoid using the top of Fox Street for parking until the fencing has been removed to ensure emergency access at all times.
