Crash involving car and van closes road near Preston Crematorium
Heavy traffic was building on Longridge Road following a collision involving a car and a van on Thursday (April 15).
Longridge Road, near the entrance to Preston Crematorium, was closed after a Mercedes van and a car collided at around 10am.
Police believe the passenger of the car, a man in his 70s, may have "potentially suffered neck injuries" - North West Ambulance Service has been approached for confirmation.
Two fire engines from Preston attended the scene to rescue the patient from the vehicle.
"Firefighters assessed one casualty and extricated the patient using holmatro cutters and spreaders, milwaukee power tools and a tool kit," a spokesman said.
"Crews were in attendance for one hour and twenty minutes."
Motorists were warned of heavy traffic in the area and were advised to find alternative routes.
The road reopened nearly two hours later at approximately 11.40am.
