Around 100 members of the University of Central Lancashire’s cleaning staff were sponsored by family, friends and colleagues to take part in a treasure hunt and a crown green bowling competition. They managed to raise a fantastic £1,020 and donated it to the Chloe Angel Fundraising Appeal.

Chloe is a nine-year-old girl from Preston who suffers from quadriplegic cerebral palsy, has epilepsy and type one diabetes, and needs to be fed by a tube. She made the trip to the Preston Campus with her mum, Hannah Gallagher, and her nana, Johanna Gallagher, to receive the donation from a selection of the staff who were involved.

Johanna said: “We’re truly humbled by all your efforts to raise such a fantastic amount of money. We’re so thankful for your help and we are planning to use the money you have raised to buy Chloe a multi-sensory station. This will make such a big difference.”

Jacqui Fletcher, a cleaner at UCLan for 30 years, suggested Chloe Angel’s charity after suffering her own personal heartbreak. She said: “I had a son who had cerebral palsy and he died aged 19 so I know what the family are going through. It’s brilliant that we’ve raised so much money and it’s lovely the family can buy something that Chloe really needs.”
