Reports pedestrian seen ‘running across motorway’ closes M61 temporarily near Bamber Bridge
The M61 was temporarily closed in both directions following reports a pedestrian had been seen running across the carriageway.
The M61 was closed in both directions between junction 9 (Clayton Brook) and the junction for the M6 at approximately 5.25pm on Monday (August 1).
Congestion was building in the area and officers advised motorists to plan alternative routes if possible.
National Highways said this was due to a “police-led incident” and officers urged drivers to remain patient.
