Motorcyclist left with 'serious injuries' after crash in Pilling

A motorcyclist has been hospitalised with "serious injuries" after a collision involving a van in Pilling.

An IVECO van collided with a Triumph Speed Twin motorcycle in Skitham Lane at around 5.10pm, police said.

The motorcyclist – a man aged in his 60s – was rushed to hospital with injuries that were initially thought to be life-changing.

Officers have now confirmed his injuries are "not thought to be as serious".

The road was closed for five hours while police attended the scene.

Detectives are now appealing for information and have urged anybody who witnessed the incident to get in touch.

Sgt Andrew Hemingway, of Lancashire Police’s TacOps team, said: "We are working hard to piece together exactly what occurred and are asking anybody with information, and who has not yet been spoken to by police, to contact us.

"Perhaps you saw the incident itself, or maybe you saw one of the vehicles in the moments before the collision occurred.

"Either way we would ask you to share the information with us."
