High winds hit rail services through Bamber Bridge

Strong winds on Thursday afternoon have caused delays to train services in Lancashire.

National Rail apologised to passengers for disruption on the line between Preston and Blackburn caused by wind damage to the level crossing at Bamber Bridge.

All services to east Lancashire and some beyond to Leeds and York go through Bamber Bridge station.

The level crossing is immediately adjacent to to the station and intersects with the busy B6258 Station Road, formerly the A6.
