Northern issues travel disruption and slippery rails warning across Lancashire and Manchester
Train services across Lancashire and Manchester could face disruption from today.
Northern has issued a warning that services across the network may be disrupted due to forecasted slippery rails.
Leaves on the line can make railway tracks slippery, much like black ice on the roads. This makes it harder for trains to accelerate and brake.

Commuters are advised to check their journey before travelling.
Disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day on Saturday, October 31.
Service impact today (Thursday, October 29), some stations on the following routes will have fewer trains than normal:
- Between Blackburn and Rochdale via Bolton.
- Between Manchester Piccadilly and Hazel Grove.
- Between Manchester Victoria and Leeds.
Service impact on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October:
Northern continue to review the train service plan day-by-day, ensuring that customers are able to receive a reliable train service.
If you are travelling on these dates, please check back here closer towards the time of travel.
