Man seriously injured in A56 Accrington crash involving Ford Explorer, Lexus ES and Audi Q4
A man in his 40s was seriously injured in a crash on the A56 in Accrington yesterday.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the southbound carriageway of the A56 at 12.15pm yesterday (Thursday, December 4) following reports of a collision involving a Ford Explorer and a Lexus ES 300H.
A police spokesperson told the Post: “The driver of the Ford, a man in his 40s, suffered serious injuries to his legs and pelvis and remains in hospital at this time.
“Thankfully, the driver of the Lexus was not injured.
“Debris from the collision strayed onto the northbound carriageway, causing a single-vehicle collision involving an Audi Q4. Fortunately, nobody from that vehicle was injured.”
Sgt Simon Grounds, from Lancashire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said an investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to the collision. Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage should contact the police as soon as possible.
He said: “As a result of this collision a man has suffered some very serious injuries, and my thoughts are with him at this time.
“Work is ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to the collision and I would ask any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact the police as soon as possible.
“I know this collision caused significant disruption on the road network, and I would just like to thank any motorists impacted for their patience and understanding.”
