Tom Pridgeon, 35, has decided to do two circuits back-to-back of the 11 mile, 21 obstacle course at Cholmondeley Malpas in Cheshire in September to raise funds for charity Meningitis Now.

The Tough Mudder veteran, who did his first event with a group from his gym last September, said he was inspired after seeing others on their second lap of the course.

He said: “I wanted to do the course again this year but most of my team mates, although they enjoyed it once, said they wouldn’t go round again.

“I decided I would go solo this year but to take another step challenge I would go round twice and raise some money for charity in the process.”

And Tom explains why he decided to raise money for Meningitis Now.

“I recognise meningitis as a real threat,” Tom said. “As a parent, it’s what you always worry about when your child gets sick.

“I also have first-hand experience as my best friend caught it as a teenager. Thankfully his mum was a nurse so she spotted the symptoms quickly and he made a full recovery. I know sometimes people aren’t so lucky.”
