They said: “On behalf of the children at Oliverson's, we'd like to kindly ask that the "No Dogs on School Grounds" policy continues to be respected outside of school hours.

“Sadly, three times this week children have stepped in or sat on dog faeces that has been left on the school field.

“With the summer term here, our children should be able to enjoy the beautiful school grounds safely, without the risk of encountering this.”

They reiterated that the school field is private property and not a “public park”, and that access to the school grounds outside of authorised use is considered trespassing.

They added: “We appreciate that the vast majority of dog owners are responsible and do not choose to walk their dogs on school fields or children's play spaces.

“We're asking everyone to do their bit to help keep our school environment clean and safe for the children.

“Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us protect this space for our pupils.”

They also said that CCTV is being reviewed in relation to recent incidents.
