Buses will also be provided early for pupils.
Pupils will be sent home early from a Chorley school today as temperatures continue to rise.

Holy Cross Catholic High School, located on Miles Standish Way, will shut its doors at 1.15pm due to “extreme weather and high temperatures”.

A spokesperson for the school which caters for 11-16 year olds said: “Because of the extreme weather and high temperatures the school is closing early on Friday.
“This is a H&S matter because classroom temperatures are expected to exceed 38C.”

They added that buses have been rearranged and parents were given 24 hours’ notice and that any pupils who could not be collected or travel home within the timeframe will stay at school.
Decisions in regards how many staff should remain on site will be made once numbers of pupils needing supervision has been ascertained.
Some staff may be allowed to leave early to work from home.
