The Mill St Catherine's Cafe to temporarily close later this month - this is why

A cafe in the grounds of a Lancashire hospice is so popular it will close later this month for an expansion.

The Mill at St Catherine’s Park Lostock Hall will close on Wednesday, January 28, to build a single-storey extension to the rear of kitchen, following removal of a storage container and shed.

A spokesperson for the business said: “We wanted to let our wonderful customers know that The Mill Café will be closed from Wednesday 28th January until Friday 13th March while we carry out essential building work.

“The kitchen is being extended to help us continue serving you delicious food in the café and so we can expand our Mill Outside service, allowing us to raise vital funds for the hospice.”

They added: “Thank you for your patience and understanding while we make these improvements and please note that the Mill Shop will still be open during this time.

“We can’t wait to welcome you back in March with a fresh new kitchen and the same friendly team!”

From Saturday, January 31, they would be offering a takeaway service from their on-site stand which would include barista coffee, hot drinks, fresh sandwiches and homemade cakes.

St Catherine’s Hospice in Lostock Hall opened The Mill in November 2014 as a social enterprise, with all the profits going directly to the hospice.

It has it’s own blend of coffee and a permanent live music and alcohol licence, meaning the venue and its grounds can be used for the likes of wedding anniversary or birthday celebrations.
