The Mad Giant officially opens in Preston with three foodhalls at £45.8m entertainment complex
A new food hall and cocktail bar which was set to complete the restaurant franchise at Preston’s Animate has officially opened.
The Mad Giant restaurant opened its doors at noon today and follows the likes of Wagamamas and Cosmo world buffet at the £45.8m Preston City Council leisure and cinema complex which opened its doors earlier this year.
The new restaurant which will house four independent food kiosks including Eat Like a Greek, Different Gravy and Crust+Co., had been earmarked to open at noon last Friday but had to be postponed due to an “unexpected issue with fire panels”.
A spokesperson for the business previously said: “We're so sorry to share that our opening and launch night has had to be postponed due to an unexpected issue with our fire panels.
“As frustrating as this is, the safety of our team and of you, our future guests, must come first. As soon as we have a new date confirmed, we'll share it with you all.”
Councillor Martyn Rawlinson, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Resources at Preston City Council, added: “Mad Giant Foodhall supports the city's commitment to Community Wealth Building by providing an opportunity to support local homegrown talent and entrepreneurs, showcasing local food traders at our flagship city centre leisure and entertainment destination.”

The Mad Giant Foodhall opening times are as follows:
- Monday: closed.
- Tuesday: 11am - 11pm.
- Wednesday: 11am - 11pm.
- Thursday: 11am - 11pm.
- Friday: 11am - 12am.
- Saturday: 11am - 12am.
- Sunday: 11am - 10pm.
