South Ribble Scouts has appointed Jon Nutten as Interim Lead Volunteer as the District moves into a new phase focused on strengthening volunteer support, community ties and opportunities for young people.
The District, one of the largest in West Lancashire, supports more than 1,700 young people across 21 Scout Groups, offering activities designed to build confidence, leadership skills and resilience through adventure and community-based learning.

It says its future direction remains closely aligned with The Scout Association’s strategy, “A Place to Belong”, which aims to create inclusive environments where young people and volunteers feel supported and able to thrive.
South Ribble Scouts is also continuing its commitment to Youth Shaped Scouting, ensuring young people have a direct voice in shaping local activities and opportunities.
Nutten said he was looking forward to working with volunteers across the District to build on its strengths.
He said: “We have an incredible team of volunteers and a strong community around us. I want us to continue creating spaces where young people and volunteers feel they belong, build friendships, have fun and grow in confidence.”
The District also paid tribute to outgoing Lead Volunteer Stuart Robinson for his contribution, while West Lancashire Scouts Lead Volunteer Cath Lee welcomed the appointment, highlighting Nutten’s leadership experience and commitment to supporting volunteers.
Martin Sumner said the organisation remained focused on creating opportunities where young people can “belong, thrive and gain Skills for Life”, adding that volunteers across the District continue to make a lasting difference every week.
