'It’s such a shame'- shocking image shows aftermath of Halloween motorbike fire in Leyland

Halloween night brought an unwelcome suprise for some Leyland residents...

Emergency services tackled a blazing motorbike fire on a residental Leyland street last night.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that one fire engine from Leyland attended a vehicle fire on Carr Lane, Farington at 11:21pm on Saturday, October 31.

Firefighters used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire - which the Post can reveal consumed a motorbike.

Crews were in attendance for one hour.

A resident of Carr Lane, John Jessup, told the Post he spotted the fire from outside of his bedroom window that night.

He went out at 10am this morning to take the above picture and as of 3pm today, the burnt out bike is still there.

John told us: “I saw the fire from my bedroom window as I was going to bed. I thought it was trees on fire. I was thinking about calling the fire brigade but then they turned up. I saw the mess in the morning. It’s such a shame.”

John, who has lived on Carr Lane for 15 years, said he does not believe the bike belongs to any of his neighbours but rather that is related to recent anti-social behaviour involving motorbikes in the area.

He said: “The street’s quiet except for dog walkers and families.

“Bikes do keep going up here though and just last week there were three young lads on one bike with masks on.

“They are a nuisance. They go so fast ‘round the bend, they don’t seem to care.”

Lancashire Post has contacted Lancashire Police for comment but they have not responded.
