Shannon Moore, of Preston, filmed her long locks being chopped off at Be Beautiful, in Preston, on Facebook live, which attracted more than 2,000 hits.

The sponsorship money raised will go towards Manchester Wythenshawe Cystic Fibrosis Centre, with her hair going to help make wigs at the Princess Trust.

The 16-year-old pupil at Corpus Christi Catholic High School said: “I wanted to raise money for the cystic fibrosis centre as my older cousin Molly-lee Moore, 20, has the condition.

“She gets her treatment at The Wythenshawe centre numerous times a year. I wanted to give the centre something back for looking after her, as the charity means lots to our family.

“I also didn’t want to stop there as I realised somebody could benefit from my actual hair. So I wanted to donated the actual hair to Princess Trust where children can benefit from my hair to make wigs.”

Shannon has raised £165 but is hoping to reach £500.
