Road closed after car hits bridge

A woman has been taken to hospital by air ambulance after a car crash.

The emergency services were called to Meadow Lane in Croston at 1.20pm today after reports an MG ZR car had hit the parapet of a bridge.

A 45-year-old woman was trapped in the vehicle and a nurse who was passing stopped to help.

Firefighters from Chorley and Tarleton stations attended and used hydraulic rescue equipment to get the woman out of the car.

She was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital by air ambulance.

Meadow Lane was closed temporarily between the A59 and Croston village.
