Puppy love as Astley meets the mayor

Chorley's guide dog puppy Astley certainly made an impression during his first meeting with the mayor.

He gave a very friendly greeting to Coun Marion Lowe, licking her face when they met at St Mary’s Parish Centre in Chorley.

Astley made his first visit to Chorley on Saturday to meet the borough’s First Citizen, along with school pupils and fund-raisers.They had been waiting to meet Astley since his name was revealed by Whittle-le-Woods-based comedian Dave Spikey in October.

Astley is currently spending time with a dedicated puppy walker, before going to guide dog training school.

More than £10,000 has been raised for the Guide Dogs’ Name A Puppy campaign. Lifetime costs for every working dog trained by Guide Dogs total more than £50,000 and the charity receives no Government funding.
