A fund-raiser has been set up for popular Leyland mum and army veteran, Sarah Giffen-Smith, who died following a car crash.

Set up only a day ago, the GoFundMe for 32-year-old Sarah has already raised £4,245, far surpassing its goal of £3,000. Organiser, Pauline Evans wrote: “Please help me in raising as much as we can to give Sarah the send off she deserves and support her two boys who are now left without a mum. Sarah was a beautiful soul and served in the Army for 10 years. She was selfless, kind and a great mum. Anyone who knew Sarah would say she was the life and soul of the party with an amazing sense of humour and life will never be the same without her. Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated, no matter how big or small. Sarah we love you forever and always xxx.”

Officers attended West Paddock at around 11.20pm on Wednesday (October, 12), following reports that an Audi A1 had left the road and collided with a lamp post before colliding with a tree. The driver of the car, trainee paramedic Sarah, was treated at the scene by the North West Ambulance Service, before being taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where she sadly died on Thursday.
