Plans lodged for more than 80 homes in Over Wyre village

A major housing development with 84 homes has been proposed for the Over Wyre village of Stalmine.

The project from Wainhomes North West Ltd, which has been submitted to Wyre planners, follows several previous applications to develop the site, on land east of Carr End Lane.

This application seeks detailed permission for the construction of the homes along with associated open space, landscaping and highways infrastructure.

There have been a number of objections to the scheme by nearby residents, citing concerns over traffic congestion, flooding and potential loss of wildlife habitat.

One residents stated in their objection: "This is a rural area, with wildlife that wander onto our roads as well as some farm animals.

"More houses are taking away from being rural, more traffic the roads obviously can't cope with, the schools being small rural schools are becoming over full, doctors unable to cope with the amount of patients they have as it's impossible to get appointments.

"Why ruin a beautiful place with yet more houses?"

The development consists of 13 two-bed semi-detached, nine two-bed mews, 19 three-bed semis, 18 three-bed town houses, six three-bed detached and 19 four-bed detached houses,.

Of these, 30 per cent would be designated as affordable homes.

However, those affordable homes would be "tenure-blind", meaning they would not look noticeably different from other houses in the development.

in the design and access statement on behalf of Wainholmes, MPSL Planing and Design Ltd said: "The scheme proposes 25 affordable properties, which equates to 30 per cent, appropriately dispersed across the site.

"Affordable properties are intended to be tenure blind, constructed in a style consistent with the remainder of the site, thus creating a seamless development which does not differentiate between tenures."

Consultants for Wainhomes say the the development will not detrimentally affect the local highways and flooding will not be an issue.

The proposal is an updated development on a previous application for the site put forward by Wainhomes last year, when the housebuilder's plans to build 65 homes were refused by Wyre planners.
