Mason's about to set sail
Preston lad Mason O'Brien is off to sea after sailing through his basic training in the Royal Navy.
Mason, 17, a former Ashton Community Science College pupil, joined the Navy in November 2017 and has now completed his 10-week training course and is ready to head out to sea on HMS Sultan.
Mason said: “I joined the Royal Navy for a better lifestyle and for the opportunities. It’s been a gruelling 10 weeks leading to what I know will be a fantastic future.”
He was at HMS Raleigh, in Cornwall, for his induction training.
He has now completed an intensive 10-week course designed to teach him the skills he will rely upon throughout his career.
