Leyland firm's golf day raises over £3k for Rosemere Cancer in thanks for care given to club director

A special golf tournament in South Ribble has raised thousands for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

A company from Leyland has raised over three grand for a cause very close to their hearts.

Leyland firm Layers Surveys Ltd raised £3,373.92 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation by hosting a golf day for the charity at Penwortham Golf Club, of which the firm is also a main sponsor.

Layers’ MD Darren Webster said: “This was our second annual golf day. We chose to support Rosemere Cancer Foundation in thanks for treatment one of the golf club’s directors is currently receiving at Rosemere Cancer Centre. We are very grateful to everyone who supported the golf day in any way.”

A mix of clients and suppliers formed 22 teams of four to play the day’s competition, which also offered anyone who made a hole in one the opportunity to leave with a brand new car.

The prize, which went unclaimed, was put up by Manchester-based Latitude Leasing Ltd.

Sue Swire, fundraising manager for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, who accepted the donation on the charity’s behalf, said: “We are very grateful to everyone at Layers Surveys Ltd for this donation. Organising a golf day is a lot of hard work. We are also very grateful to everyone, who supported the event.”

Rosemere Cancer Foundation works to bring world class cancer treatments and services to cancer patients from throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria being treated at Rosemere Cancer Centre, Lancashire and South Cumbria’s regional specialist cancer treatment and radiotherapy centre at the Royal Preston Hospital, and also at another eight local hospital cancer units across the two counties, including that at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital.

The charity funds the latest in cutting-edge equipment, clinical research, staff training and innovative services and initiatives that the NHS cannot afford in order to make patients' cancer journey more effective, comfortable and stress-free.
