Lancashire & South Cumbria hospice supporters to take on Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

Hospices across Lancashire and South Cumbria are teaming up for an all mighty challenge to raise funds for the communities that they serve.

Almost 200 people have already signed up for the ‘Lancashire and South Cumbria Hospices Together’ Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge trek and places are still available.

Participants will tackle the iconic Yorkshire Three Peaks – Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough – in a single day on Saturday, September 5.

The walk covers 24 miles and 5,200 feet of ascent, promising breathtaking views, camaraderie along the journey, and the chance to make a real difference to hospice care across the region.

The challenge has united 10 hospices from across Lancashire and Cumbria in the first collaborative project of its kind.

Participants will also include colleagues from James Hall & Co. Ltd, SPAR’s primary retailer and distributor for the North of England, as the company has headline sponsored the event.

James Da Costa, Corporate Engagement Partner at St Catherine’s Hospice, said “To have supporters from ten different hospices joining together for such an invigorating challenge is thrilling. We can’t thank SPAR enough for putting its weight behind the whole endeavour, supporting all the hospices and every single walker who takes part.

“The money raised will fund compassionate, end of life care in our communities of South Ribble, Preston and Chorley, but also the patients and families supported by Derian House Children’s Hospice, East Lancashire Hospice, Pendleside Hospice, St Mary’s Hospice, Trinity and Brian House Hospice, Queenscourt Hospice, St John’s Hospice, and Rossendale Hospice.”

Philippa Harrington, Marketing Manager for James Hall & Co added: “Our long-standing support of St Catherine’s Hospice is an important part of our company ethos and engagement with our communities. So, the chance to expand on that, and get involved in a fundraising project for nine other hospices too, was unmissable!

“It’s also a great team building opportunity for colleagues, and a chance to do something fun and practical to support each store’s local hospice or hospices.”
