The task force behind the campaign said: "We have members of the public starting to hold an Apple up High, to show their support… and one group to do this has been the Vale of Lune U15’s Rugby Club in Lancaster.

"We then need as many as possible to get an Apple, take a picture and state - “I’m holding this apple as a sign of what is missing from a child's hand. I support Marcus Rashford and his call on the government to help out children in need- #endchildpoverty."

"Take a picture or video with you holding an apple. Post it on all social media sites. Call on others to do the same."
