The Jeremy Allen Award recognises outstanding practitioners in the licensing field who have made a significant contribution to the industry, view licensing as not just a job but as a vocation and have demonstrated leadership, integrity and a commitment to partnership working in keeping communities safe.

Preston Licensing Police Constable Ste Connolly was shortlisted for the 14th annual Jeremy Allen Award and subsequently attended the Institute of Licensing’s 2025 National Training Conference in Stratford.

He was presented with the runner-up award by the Institute of Licensing and Poppleston Allen Solicitors.

In his citation, the Institute of Licensing said that PC Connolly has been recognised for his outstanding contribution as a police licensing officer and that he has ‘consistently demonstrated dedication to the licensing profession and the Institute of Licensing, making a significant impact through his work and collaborative approach’.

The citation added: “His nomination echoed the respect and appreciation expressed for Ste, underlining the vital role police licensing officers play in supporting safe and well-managed communities.”

South Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Ian Jones said: “The work that Ste undertakes with licensed premises to ensure that Preston’s night time economy is safe and inviting is admirable. He is incredibly deserving of this award.”
