Appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage after death of cyclist in Gisburn

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was found unresponsive on Burnley Road in Gisburn.

The man, aged in his 50s, was discovered near a farm entrance off the A682 at around 12-50pm yesterday (August 23rd), by a motorist who was travelling along the road.

The motorist alerted emergency services, but the man died a short time later.

Police are are now trying to piece together exactly what occurred and are asking anybody who saw him before he died to get in touch with them as soon as possible.

Sgt Marc Glass, of the Lancashire Police TacOps team, said: “First and foremost our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the cyclist, at what is a truly awful time for them.

“We are now working hard to establish what happened, though at this point we do not believe there were any other vehicles involved or that the man’s death is suspicious.

"However, we would like to hear from anybody who was in the area and saw him before he died, or anyone who has dashcam footage which captured part of his journey."
