Penwortham couple celebrate diamond anniversary

Doris and Ron Halewood are celebrating 60 years of marriage.

Doris and Ron Halewood, of Penwortham, celebrate 60 years of marriage

The couple, who have two grandchildren, met at a dance at Southport Floral Hall in the 1950s and married at St Philip’s Church in Southport in 1957. Ron, now 88, worked at BT, whilst Doris, now 91, gave up factory work to have their only daughter Julie. They moved to Penwortham more than 12 years ago.

Granddaughter Heather Johnson said: “My grandparents are an inspiration. You don't hear of many people hitting 60 years. We are very proud of them and love them very much."
