Mystery as Police Search Team spotted close to Preston Railway Station

Teams were spotted on both Wednesday and Thursday.

Police search teams have been spotted working close to Preston Railway Station this week - but mystery surrounds their presence.

Around three to four people wearing navy blue uniforms with ‘Police Search Team’ emblazoned on the back were spotted on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon in Butler Street, kneeling down in the road to examine drain covers, as well as dismantling a bollard close to the junction with Fishergate.

‘No logs’

When the Post approached Lancashire Police for information on the activity, they were told there was no log available, and were instead referred to the British Transport Police (BTP).

BTP also claimed to have no knowledge of the work.

What do police search teams do?

According to the College of Policing, police search teams plan, coordinate, and execute systematic searches to locate missing people, recover evidence for crimes, and secure venues against counter-terrorism threats.
