Leyland school field earmarked for housing being sold by Lancashire County Council
A public consultation was held late last year.
A Leyland school field earmarked for housing is being sold off by Lancashire County Council.
The authority gave notice of their intention to sell off Golden Hill Short Stay School’s former playing fields in November, issuing a public consultation before making an application to The Secretary of State for Education for consent to the disposal and change of use of land.

At the time, LCC said: “The proposal arises as much of the land has not been in continuous use as playing field land for the period following the demolition and rebuilding of the current facility. As such, the land in its current form is not currently benefitting the school or community surrounding the site.”
The 1.8 acre site off Earnshaw Drive/Leyland Lane, is now listed on LCC’s ‘properties for sale’ website page, which describes it as ‘allocated and protected for housing development in the Central Lancashire Local Plan’.
No indication of asking price has been given, with formal tenders to be sent to LCC’s Property Sales team on 01772 532450 or [email protected]
