However, Liz, who is originally from Edinburgh, is set to represent England at an international tournament held in Glasgow.

But the predicament of a former Scot representing England in her country of birth is one she is looking forward to.

Liz said: “My loyalties certainly lie with England when I’m representing them as national champion.

“It is something my fellow players sometimes tease me about.”

The lawn bowls expert saw off six competitors on her way to the national title.

She has competed at competitions across the globe, including in Israel and South Africa.

Liz, who hones her skills at Moor Park, said her latest win was particularly satisfying.

She added: “It makes me feel great because it leads to bigger things. I’m looking forward to the next tournament.”
