He was then diagnosed with short bowel syndrome - an incurable disease caused by a birth defect.

He had three major surgeries at Alder Hey Childrens Hospital and each time, his devastated parents were told he would not survive, but warrior Kacey kept defying odds.

A suitable donor for Kacey had been found in May 2024 and he was rushed to Birmingham for surgery.

He had previously been unable to go to nursery as getting any illness would have resulted in him being taken off the organ transplant list.

He also competed for Birmingham in the Transplant Games in Oxford last year and won a gold in archery and bronze in sprint.

Proud dad Michael said at the time: “We are so incredibly proud of him as he is a fighter and never gave up.”

Sadly, Kacey has since lost his hard fought battle.

Announcing the heartbreaking news, a spokesperson for the family said: “On Friday 31st July, our community will say goodbye to Kacey Ogg, a much-loved little boy who touched so many hearts.

“Kacey spent much of his young life courageously battling serious illness, facing more than any child ever should with incredible strength.

“Despite everything, he brought so much love, joy and happiness to those around him.”

His funeral procession will be travelling along Brookwood Way, passing the Trinity school at approximately 4:05pm.

If anyone from the Buckshaw community would like to pay their respects or show their support for Kacey and his family, they are “warmly invited to line Brookwood Way as his procession passes”.

They added: “There is absolutely no expectation, but your presence would mean so much and would give Kacey the beautiful send-off he truly deserves.”
