Environment Agency issues flood alerts warning across parts of Lancashire

Flooding is possible today.

The Environment Agency has issued a Flood Alert across Lancashire.

High spring tides, strong waves and a storm surge mean flooding of low-lying land, roads and coastal paths is possible around high tide, particularly late this morning and again late tonight.

Please take care near the coast and estuary around high tide, keep well back from promenades and sea walls, and never walk or drive through flood water.

High tides this morning may lead to flooding which is possible from 10.30am to 12:30pm today.

Locations most affected will be coastal roads and footpaths around Freckleton Marsh, Riversway Docklands, Lower Penwortham, Hutton Marsh, Longton Marsh, Becconsall Marsh, Much Hoole Marsh, Bretherton Eyes, Croston Finney, Hesketh Out Marsh and Hundred End.

A spokesperson for The Environment Agency said: “We are closely monitoring the situation. Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and carparks, which may be flooded.”
