Preston fire crews tackle rooftop blaze at derelict city centre building in Orchard Street
Fire crews tackled a rooftop fire in Preston city centre yesterday evening.
Three engines from Preston and Penwortham, along with an aerial ladder platform from Blackpool, were called to the scene in Orchard Street at around 6.09pm.
The street was taped off while firefighters made their way to rooftop scaffolding above Admiral Casino, where building work has been taking place.
The fire service said the cause is still under investigation and has not been reported to police at this stage. No injuries were reported.

According to the fire service, the fire involved a derelict building in Friargate, not Orchard Street. But pictures and video from city photographer Ryan Gillett show crews in Orchard Street, where smoke was rising from above Admiral Casino.
A fire service spokesperson said: “At 6.09pm, three fire engines from Preston and Penwortham, along with one aerial ladder platform from Blackpool, attended an derelict building fire on Friargate in Preston.
“Firefighters used one hose reel jet, one triple extension ladder, and one thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. Crews were in attendance for approximately one hour.”
