Wanted Preston man threatens to harm himself in standoff with police

At around 11.30am, six police vans and two patrol cars descended on Thompson Street, off Miller Road in Ribbleton, to capture a 30-year-old man wanted on recall to prison.
More than a dozen officers were dispatched to the area where the man had been making threats to harm himself from a flat in Shakespeare Road, off Thompson Street.

Hide AdA standoff ensued when he refused to leave the address and police taped off the road whilst officers sought to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
Lancashire Police said the man eventually gave himself up and left the home of his own accord.
He was arrested and the force said he was taken to hospital ‘as a precaution’.
A police spokesperson said: “We were called at around 11.30am yesterday (Monday, January 2) to reports a man wanted on recall to prison was at an address on Shakespeare Road, Preston.

Hide Ad"We attended the area, where we found the man inside the address making threats to harm himself.
"A short time later he left the address and the incident was brought to a peaceful conclusion.
“The 30-year-old man, of no fixed abode, was taken to hospital as a precaution after being arrested. He is now in custody.”
