Les Collins, who only moved to the village in February to look after his father with Dementia, is now appealing for the tools to be returned.

“I have just moved to Eccleston, it’s going to prevent me from working,” said Les, who is self-employed doing internal refurbishments.

“The cash that I had in reserve has gone on moving costs. I just want to appeal to people to bring it back.

“It’s my livelihood. I’m still grafting seven days a week. I’m 55 years old and still working like I was at 20.

“The Bosch power tools were taken from right outside my house in The Green. They must have come in a vehicle, you can’t run with that type of stuff so it’s not just an opportunist that’s swiped something when he’s gone past.

“They actually rifled through and took the good stuff. It’s left me with a really sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. It’s not just that the stuff that has been taken, it’s about my ability to work as well. I have had to put two people off already. I’m just hoping it might click with somebody’s consciences, I’m holding out for humanity.”
