A woman in her 20s reported being raped near Preston bus station, prompting a police investigation.

Police were called to reports a woman in her 20s had been raped in Tithebarn Street at around 12.50am on Tuesday morning (July 12).

Officers said the victim was being supported by specially trained officers and enquiries into the incident were ongoing.

“No arrests have been made at this stage,” a spokesman for Lancashire Police added.

“Reassurance patrols have been increased as a precaution but this is being treated as an isolated incident.”

A grass verge in Tithebarn Street, located directly outside the bus station, was cordoned off following the incident.
