Rape investigation launched after woman in her 20s attacked near Preston bus station

Police were called to reports a woman in her 20s had been raped in Tithebarn Street at around 12.50am on Tuesday morning (July 12).

Officers said the victim was being supported by specially trained officers and enquiries into the incident were ongoing.

“No arrests have been made at this stage,” a spokesman for Lancashire Police added.

“Reassurance patrols have been increased as a precaution but this is being treated as an isolated incident.”

Pictures from the scene showed a grass verge in Tithebarn Street, located directly outside the bus station, was cordoned off following the incident.

Numerous police vehicles were also spotted in the area, with officers patrolling the perimeter of the cordon.
