“The bones in my leg were coming out of my skin,” he told the Lancashire Post.
“I also suffered severe road rash on my knuckles, arms, legs and back as well as lacerations on my head where you could see the skull.”
Doctors hammered a rod into one of the bones in Owen’s leg after he was rushed to hospital, keeping it in place to prevent it from healing abnormally.

He also received treatment on some fractured teeth on his bottom jaw as well as the subsequent swelling on his face.
Owen said he could not remember much about the incident, but he was “very grateful” for the help he received from bystanders and the NHS.
He said: “A lady approached me and I passed her my phone, unlocked it for her and asked her to call my auntie and partner.
“When my auntie arrived the paramedics were talking to me and I told them I trusted them completely.

“I suffer quite a lot from anxiety so with the amount of people around me I’m surprised I was so calm.”

“It’s better to be safe than sorry and that’s what the doctors have advised as well,” he said from his hospital bed.
The road was closed for more than three hours following the collision while accident investigators attended.

Lancashire Police later launched a public appeal and urged anyone who witnessed the hit-and-run to come forward.
When asked if he had a message for the motorcyclist, Owen said: “You’ve made your bed, now lie in it.
“Be a man.”
