Cyclist hospitalised with broken leg after hit-and-run crash with motorbike in Preston

A cyclist was hospitalised with “serious injuries” following a hit-and-run collision in Preston.

A cyclist and motorcyclist collided at the junction of Blackpool Road and Plungington Road at around 4.10pm on Saturday (July 9).

The cyclist, a man in his 30s from Preston, suffered a broken leg and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

The motorcyclist, who was riding a Honda bike, stopped briefly before making off from the scene prior to police arriving.

Police later urged anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Sgt Paul McCurrie, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations, said: “An investigation is underway following a hit and run collision in Preston.

“A cyclist has been left with serious injuries.

The road was closed for more than three hours while accident investigators attended the incident.
